This is called eisegesis…I am have been very guilty of this, coming to scripture with my “self-made premise”. I have started reading the whole chapter so I can understand what is really going on without putting my own ideas into the verse. I have literally done this everyday with a devo I do. One is how we constantly take verses out of context. But in the beginning she says some things that really opened my eyes to how to explain my view point more clearly. This is really more of a memoir than anything else. When I saw Doreen’s book come out I wanted to read her story. Yet, I couldn’t shake the feeling that maybe I had fallen into some New Age thinking because it had been presented as Christian by Christian believers I followed and read. I sort of dismissed it, thinking she is crazy, I haven’t fallen into that.
